Sherwood Sagedahl and Kathy Haubrich are USATF Minnesota's Athletes of the Month for September, Shane Streich and Shaina Burns for August .
Sagedahl, a 73-year-old from Fairmont, set the world masters age-group record for the M70 pentathlon - the division for men over 70-years-old. Sagedahl scored 3806 points at the USA Masters Track & Field Championships in Lisle, Illinois in August, topping the existing record of 3,755 set by Germany's Gerhard Tillmann in 2009.
Haubrich, 53, of Shakopee, was a member of two relay teams that established new American masters age-group records for women over 50-years-old in the 4 x 400-meter and 4 x 800-meter events. Haubrich's Athena Track Club team ran the 4 x 400 in 4:40.38 and the 4 x 800 in 10:45.23 at the USA Masters Championships.
Waseca High School sophomore, Streich, won the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic national title in the Intermediate Boys 1500-meters in July in Baltimore in 3 :59.17.At the same meet, Streich also earned a silver medal at 3,000-meters.
Burns, a junior at Lakeville South High School, won the Intermediate Girls' heptathlon at the USATF Junior Olympic with 4704 points.
