Twin Cities Track Club's Joe Moore set a course record of 14:53 and claimed the men’s division title at today’s
24th annual Fitger’s 5K in downtown Duluth. Moore topped the previous
fastest time (Jeremy Polson, 2002, 15:08) by 15 seconds. He also won the 2012
Park Point 5-Miler and placed 12th at the 2012 USA Half Marathon Championships
in Duluth last June. Duluth’s
Morgan Place won the women’s crown with a time of
17:53.
All net
proceeds – about $20,000 – from the Fitger’s 5K benefit the Young Athletes
Foundation (YAF), a Grandma's Marathon program focused on the promotion and
development of youth athletics in the Northland. For complete
