The Gopher men won three individual titles on Saturday at the 14th annual Iowa Musco Twilight in Iowa City.
Minnesota's 4x400 relay team of Jacob Capek, Harun Abda, Goaner Deng and Cameron Boy won in a meet-record of 3:13.10 - besting runner-up Iowa by over a second. Nick Hutton triumphed the 800 in 1:51.51 as Minnesota finished with four of the top six places. Michael Bolland finished third at 1:52.86, John Holton came in fifth at 1:53.29 and Jeffrey Cottrell came in sixth at 1:53.52. The Gophers' third individual title came in the discus throw where Luke Johnson threw 49.80 meters.
Other notable performances for the Gophers included a second-place finish in the 4x100 (41.16 second), a second-place finish in the high jump by Wally Ellenson (2.11 meters), a third-place finish in the 400 by Kevin Bradley (48.47 seconds), and a third in the long jump by Oladipo Fagbemi (7.17 meters).
Additionally, Minnesota posted three of the top four finishers in the shot put including Mark Jennings' runner-up throw of 17.29 meters. Logan Hussung came in third at 16.94 meters, and Luke Johnson finished fourth at 16.29 meters. Jennings' was also part of a trio of Gophers that placed in the discus, finishing fifth at 50.83 meters.
