The St. Thomas men's track and field team had seven top-two finishes while Minnesota State Mankato athletes won four events at Saturday's Tomcat Invitational. The non-team scored competition was moved indoors into the Anderson Athletics and Recreation Complex (AARC) due to snowy fields and cold weather.
Eyo Ekpo won the triple jump (45' 11.5") and took second in the high jump (6-8). Charlie Pechous won the long jump (21' 6.25"). Cody Jerabek placed second in the 60 dash (7.06) and fifth in the 200 (23.00). Cole Boughner took second in the 200 (22.81). UST was second in the 4x400 relay (3:23.83). In the shot put, UST took 2-4-5-6 with Bryan Thell (48' 6.75"), Aba Omot (45' 8.5"), Devin Dirth (44 '7.5"), and Matt Schauer (43' 8"). Doug Thoresen placed third in the 800 (1:58.03).
In the 5,000, UST took 4-5-6-7 with Ethan Armbruster (15:42.14), Brian Farley (15:45.14), Ben Rascher (15:46.14) and William Manaker (15:55.62). Doug Mueller placed fourth in the 400 (51.48).
Christian Roemhildt took fifth in the triple jump (38' 2"). Alex Schroeder was sixth in the 1,500 (4:02.26), Krystof Walzach was sixth in the long jump (20' 5.75"). Max Dunne tied for seventh in the pole vault (14' 3.25"). Andrew Leonard was seventh in the 400 (52.25).
Sprinter Camono Lane of MS-Mankato got double wins taking the 60(6.99) and 200(22.14). His teammate Devin Albaugh won the 1,500(3:58.71). UMD's Dan Nielsen(15:19.14) and Ryan Eason(15:20.86) went one, two in the 5K. UW-River Falls hurdlers swept the top four places with Matt Shutey(8.19), James Butler(8.30), Matt Griffin(8.48), and Tom Thuntes(8.49). Bethel won the 4 by 400 relay(3:21.80) and their teammate Zach Haskins(1:55.03) won the 800.
