Minnesota’s 4x400 relay team finished runner-up to Notre Dame in 3:09.12, the best performance in the Big Ten this season. Cameron Boy also posted the Big Ten’s top performance in the 200, running 21.10 for second. Oladipo Fagbemi(15.45m /50' 8.25") finished fourth in the triple jump. Full results are HERE.
The University of Minnesota women’s team had six first place finishes at the Arkansas Spring Invitational. Three of the wins came in middle distance races.
Senior Alena Brooks had two first places, winning the 400 and was the second leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay, which ran a season-best time of 3:42.14. Te’Shon Adderley, Megan Geyen, and Jessica Waldvogel teamed up with Brooks on relay. Adderley added an individual crown by winning the 800 in 2:10.36. Junior Katie Hill(2:11.89) took third. The Gophers took the top three spots in the 3K with Becca Dyson(9:39.39), Maggie Bollig(9:43.30), and Missa Varpness(9:50.52).
Minnesota took four of the top seven spots in the 1,500 with Ashlie Decker(first/4:32.73), Kaitlin Mincke(third/4:34.71), Cassy Opitz(fourth/4:37.56), and Jamie Vandenburg(seventh/4:44.07). They also had three of the top seven in the 400 hurdles--Madison Smith(fifth/62.82), Frances Conlin(sixth/62.89), and Jessica Waldvogel(seventh/63.27). Todea-Kay Willis was first in the long jump with a leap of 6.17m/20' 3" and a set a personal best mark in the 100 of 11.78(seventh best in Gopher history) in third place. Willis also ran a leg on the third place Gopher 4 by 100 relay(46.17) with teammates Akuoma Omeoga, Megan Green, and Kylie Peterson.
Devin Stanford set a personal-best mark in the hammer on Friday night(55.36m/181' 7.5"/third), and another PR in the discus (49.08m/161') to place fourth. Full results are HERE.
