It is Conference Meet weekend for the collegiate teams in the area. The Gophers are heading to Columbus, Ohio for the Big Ten Championships while the MIAC Championships are being held at St. Thomas. Meanwhile, The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships, hosted by Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, will take place on Friday and Saturday.
The NSIC is a growing conference of Division II schools in the Midwest. With the addition of the University of Sioux Falls and Minot State University in 2012, the conference now has sixteen members (although a few don't compete in Track and Field).
The addition of Sioux Falls and Minot State not only increased the number of teams in the conference meet, it also propelled the conference from a decent pole vaulting conference to a great one. There are seventeen male and female athletes in the conference who have obtained a NCAA Division II provisional mark in the pole vault in 2013.
We will concentrate on the women, where three Sioux Falls athletes have already vaulted past the NCAA DII automatic mark. Let us know how high the NSIC women will vault this weekend...
The current list of NSIC women lists two women with 2013 marks over thirteen feet. There are five women with vaults of 12'5.5" or higher. There are seven women who have gone over twelve feet, plus one more at 11'11.75".
The 2012 NSIC results show the winning pole vault to be 11'10". This likely has no bearing on the results in 2013, however, because the top ten women on the current NSIC list did not compete at the conference meet in 2012.

My Answer: No
Last week's question was: Yes/No: Will Ben Sathre run faster than 36:15 at the Lilac Bloomsday Run on Sunday? The answer was no — Sathre finished 32nd in 38:45. Thirteen contestants answered correctly and Lori Anne Schwiesow leads with ten points. Right behind is Dimitri Drekonja, Mike Henderson and Mary Varney with nine points each.
