TCIM College Scholarship Recipients Announced

Twin Cities In Motion has awarded Elizabeth Miller of Watertown-Mayer High School and Marshal Landrum of Como Park High School its 2014 TCIM College Scholarships.

Elizabeth Miller
Miller and Landrum were chosen from a field of more than 135 applicants, based on the strength of their running accomplishments, academic performance, and community service. In addition, candidates were asked to write a personal essay. This year marks the 14th year that Twin Cities In Motion has awarded scholarships to the metro area’s most impressive distance running scholar-athletes.

"It's an honor for Twin Cities In Motion to present these scholarships to Elizabeth and Marshal," Twin Cities In Motion Executive Director Virginia Brophy Achman said. "The talent and commitment of all our scholarship applicants always amazes me.  We are proud to support high school students in our community and to share in their hopes and dreams."

Marshal Landrum
Miller distinguished herself among TCM Scholarship nominees with a 3.98 GPA, 125 hours of community service and volunteer work, and proven leadership skills as a team captain of her cross country and track and field teams.  An active member of her student council, Miller has also been a State Meet participant in both cross country and track and has twice been named Academic All-State in cross country.  Miller plans to attend the University of Minnesota next fall.

Landrum impressed scholarship selectors with a 3.87 GPA, 225 hours of community service, and volunteer work, and proven leadership ability as a team captain of the Como Park cross country and track and field teams.  A Bezos Scholar and an Eagle Scout, Landrum has been a State Meet participant in cross country and track and has earned numerous All-Conference honors in the two sports. Landrum plans to attend Bowdoin College next fall.

Twin Cities In Motion has awarded more than $100,000 in college scholarships since the inception of the TCM College Scholarship Program.  The Twin Cities In Motion College Scholarship Program is one of TCM’s community outreach initiatives that include the Medtronic TC Kids Marathon, a community-wide effort that inspires healthy lifestyles among children, and the High School Running Shoe Program, which provides running shoes to high school cross country and track athletes in need.
