Heather Kampf finished fourth in the fast heat of the women's 800 in 2:00.65, tantilizingly close to breaking the 2 minute barrier(her PR is closer, 2:00.04 set last summer in Italy). Women's IAAF World Indoor champ at 800 Chanelle Price took the race out following the pacesetter in just under 57 seconds. Kampf led the chase group through nearly 600 meters before the rest of the pack put on a charge down the homestraight to nearly catch Price. Kampf tweeted after the race: "Solid race today, if anything, felt too good at the end! This is both encouraging and frustrating, but will focus." Race video HERE.
Team USA Minnesota's Gabe Grunewald finished eighth in the second heat of the women's 800 at the Prefontaine Classic in 2:06.77. Gopher grad Harun Abda was the pacesetter for the men's 800 B race took the field through nearly 600 meters, passing the quarter in right around 50 seconds. Kenya's Job Kinyor won the race in 1:44.70. Grunewald tweeted: "It's not fun to be in a funk, but I'll be back. The tough times challenge us but ultimately show us who we are."
