USATF Masters Indoor Championships This Weekend in Maryland
A record total of 1,043 athletes are expected to compete March 22-24 at the 2013 USA Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland.
Nine Olympians and 30 world champions have entered stretching from ages 30 to 95+. There are competitors from 47 states and 14 countries who will compete in a full range of track and field events. The action begins at 8 a.m. each day. More information including a complete schedule and list of entries can be found HERE.
A look at one event, the men's mile, entry list shows several Minnesotans. For example, Lance Elliott has the fastest qualifying time in the 40-44 age group of 4:26, three seconds faster than Nicholas Berra of Philadelphia. The Twin Cities Track Club's Brian Lundberg is listed among the entrants in the men's 45-49 age group. Run N Fun's Pat Billig could be a contender in the 50-54 age group, and that is only one event for one gender at the championships and is not the final entry list.
The meet website is HERE. The USATF press release listing some of the top entrants is HERE.
