Additional medal performances by
Donald Sazima, Lance Elliott, and Susan Loyd in Sunday’s closing session gave Minnesota a
total of 11 individual medals at
the three-day USATF national masters indoor championships in Landover,
MD.
Donald Sazima,
Minnetonka, took second in the M80 triple jump at 3.54m/11’7.25” to go with his
first place in the pentathlon Friday and a tie for first in the high jump
Saturday.
Lance Elliott, Edina,
finished second in the M40 800m in 2:03.73.
He was also the silver medalist in Saturday’s M40 mile behind Kevin
Castille, the American record holder in both the M40 5000m and
10000m.
Susan Loyd, Edina, added
a bronze in the W50 200m to go with her Friday gold in the 400m and Saturday
gold in the 60m. She was third among
American sprinters in the 200m in 32.00, a new Minnesota W55 record. The event was event won by a Puerto Rican
runner.
Other individual Minnesota
medalists were Pat Billig, Roseville, second in the M50 3000m on Friday and
third in the mile Saturday, and Thom Weddle, Minneapolis, second in the M70 mile
on Saturday.
