MSU-Mankato and South Dakota Win Titles at NCC Championships

Minnesota State University-Mankato had wins in 14 of 19 events to capture the men’s division of the North Central Conference Indoor Track Championships in Mankato. MSU-Mankato scored 284 points to beat South Dakota, whose total was 148. In the women's competition, South Dakota returned the favor by piling up 192 points to 162 for MSU-Mankato.

The only record to fall on the final day of the meet was when Terry Liggins of South Dakota posted an automatic qualifying time of 7.97 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. The record eclipsed the record of 8.0 seconds set by Adrian Stuart of MSU-Mankato in 2004. Complete results are available here. Winners in each event are listed below, as well as the team scores.

The women's cross country team finished the 2004 regular season with a fifth place finish at the North Central Conference Championships. Senior Molly Miller earned all-conference honors by placing ninth individually with a time of 23 minutes, 16 seconds. Kellie Ryan (15th), Tinissia Leguillow (28th), Sarah Zeisler (31st) and Kaylen Harris (32nd) were UNO's top five runners in the race. The University of South Dakota won the meet, with a score of 39 points, followed by Augustana and North Dakota. Augustana's sophomore runners, Rachel Stangler and Sarah Hayes took first and second place, respectively. Stangler's time in the 6000-meter race was 22 minutes, 24 seconds, which helped Augustana to its highest finish ever in the NCC.
