With Minnesota State High School League Section competition set to begin later this week, pollsters have released the latest rankings of the state's top team and individuals.
Section competition begins on Thursday -- see a schedule HERE -- with the State Meet contested on Saturday, November 6.
The first takeaway from the latest polls is that the teams and individuals that topped the polls last week do so again this week. In Class AA, the Eden Prairie girls and Edina boys still rule the team ranks, while Maria Hauger of Shakopee and Aaron Bartnik of Eden Prairie top the Class AA individual polls.
In Class A, the Adrian girls and Perham boys continue top the team ranks, while Elena Danielson of St. Cloud Cathedral and Murbarik Musa of Worthington pace the Class AA individual polls.
The second takeaway is that for the second time in three seasons, a team ranked in the top-3 in the state going into Sections will not qualify for State Meet.
Thursday's Section 6AA meet will feature the top three teams in Class AA -- #1 Edina, #2 Wayzata, and #3 Eden Prairie -- with only two berths to the State Meet on offer. Edina, Wayzata, and Eden Priarie, in fact, have all been ranked #1 at some point during the 2010 season.
