Kampf Wins 1500 at Leon Buyle Meet

Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf won the 1500 in 4:08.37, a personal best by nearly four seconds,  at the Memorial Leon Buyle Meet in Lede, Belgium on Saturday.  Lakeville and Gopher grad Elizabeth Yetzer finished seventh in 4:20.14.  Garrett Heath finished fifth in the 1500, heat 2 in 3:34.12, an IAAF A standard qualifying time.  Will Leer was eighth in 3:35.27, an IAAF B standard time. Elliott Heath was third in 3:39.27 and Ben Blankenship fourth in 3:39.70 in the men's 1500, heat 1. Women's 1500 full results are HERE. Men's are HERE and HERE.

At the IAAF Daimond League Meet in Paris Gabriele Anderson paced the women's 5K, going through 2K in 5:45.  Triunesh Dibaba won the race in 14:23.28, the best time in the world this year and a meet record.  Why pace?  One reason is that pacers are paid rather well for their services, as the top pacers can get five figure fees and bonuses if the desired outcome--usually a world record--is achieved. Full result of the 5K is HERE.

Aussie steeplechaser Genevieve LaCaze, who finished fourth in the Metronic TC Mile, will miss the IAAF World Championships after breaking her foot in a fall at the Sainsbury's Birmingham IAAF Diamond League Meet.  Story on her withdrawal is HERE.
