Wayzata senior Josh Thorson, who won the Columbus Catholic Invitational in Marshfield, Wisconsin on Saturday, has vaulted to the top of the MSHSL Class AA boys' individual cross country rankings this week.
At the meet, Thorson beat #6-ranked Tom Linner Stillwater, who finished third and Cole O'Brien of Burnsville, the State Meet runner-up in 2010 and the #1-ranked runner in the Class AA preseason poll, who finished fourth.
(The runner-up at Marshfield was Hudson, Wisconsin junior Ryan Kromer, the son of former University of Minnesota stand-out John Kromer.)
The top of the rest of the Class AA ranks remained unchanged: Stillwater and Monticello still lead the team rankings and Shakopee junior Maria Hauger -- who romped at the Rolf Melby Invitational at St. Olaf on Saturday -- still tops the girls' individual rankings.
In Class A, the top team spot remain unchanged: the St. Cloud Cathedral boys and Adrian girls still pace the division and Blake's Brandon Clark still tops the boys' individuals.
The top-ranked Class A girl this week is now Clare Flanagan of Blake who moved from #7 to #1 in the latest poll.

The Class AA girls' poll was amended today to correct for Waseca being listed twice.
With the change, Esko joins the rankings as the #12 team, and teams originally ranked #8 through #12 move up one spot.
