The St. Cloud Cathedral girls' cross country team joined the school's boys' squad atop the latest Minnesota Class A rankings after their victory at the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday.
The Crusaders won the meet's Class AA division -- the Mega Meet separates teams into four classes -- with 55 points. Esko, the new #2-ranked team, was runner-up with 70, last week's top-ranked team, Adrian, tallied 84.
The top-ranked individuals in Class A remained unchanged. The Blake School's Brandon Clark and Clare Flanagan still top the individual polls.
In Class AA, the Rosemount boys' team moved into the #2 position in the new Class AA poll. Stillwater, which romped in the Class AAAA division at Milaca, continues to top the rankings of the state's best large school boys' teams.
Rosemount, the #4-ranked Class AA team a week ago, moved up on the the merits of its third-place finish at Saturday's Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Irish edged defending Class AA champs Wayzata, the #2-ranked team last week, 271 to 273 in the meet's Gold Race. Edina, which finished 9th in the race with 360 points, fell a spot to #4.
Monticello, a comfortable winner at Milaca, is still tabbed as the best Class AA girls team in Minnesota. Maria Hauger still tops the Class AA girls' individual rankings, as does Wayzata's Josh Thorson for boys.
