Minnetonka native Will Lear earned a spot on the USA's World Indoor Championships team with his runner-up finish in the 1500 meters at the USA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sunday.
Leo Manzano won the race in 3:49.16. Leer ran 3:49.31, and was followed by 2009 TC 1 Mile champ David Torrence (3:50.08) and Winona native Garrett Heath (3:50.11).
Team USA Minnesota's Heather Dorniden missed making the World Indoor team by one place, finishing 3rd in the 800m in a fleet 2:02.33. Reports say Dorniden led the race at the 400m in 59.91.
Burnsville alum Laura Januszewski finished 6th in the event in 2:05.15.
Other Minnesotans at USA Indoor included: Amanda Smock, 5th in the triple jump with 43-10; Katelin Rains, 6th in the pole vault at 13-11 1/4; Molly Lehman, 8th in the 1500m in 4:25.76; and Gabriele Anderson, 10th in the 1500m in 4:36.28.
