Since Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. officials last week announced (HERE) the elite entrants in the 5th-annual event that this year hosts the first-ever USA Road Mile Championship, seven racers have withdrawn.
Absent from the men's race through downtown Minneapolis are: favorite Anthony Famiglietti, 2000 Olympian Gabe Jennings, 5000 meter specialist Thomas Morgan, and former Team USA Minnesota runner Brad Lowery.
Out of the women's race are: Team USA Minnesota's Emily Brown, fellow Minnesotan Jenelle Deatherage, and two-time Olympian Jen Rhines.
Racheal Marchand, a former University of Iowa star, is a late addition to the race, however.
The remaining racers -- including women's favorite Shannon Rowbury and 2004 Olympian Carrie Tollefson -- will vie for the $22,500 Medtrontic TC 1 Mile prize purse which includes $4000 for race winners.
An additional $10,000 awaits race winners who break 4:00 (men) and 4:28 (women.)
Racing commences at 6:50 p.m. tomorrow; the starting guns fire for the USA Championship races just before 8:00 p.m.
