Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf will travel to Brazil this week for are pair of 800-meter races in the host country of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Kampf will compete in Belem on Sunday, May 6 and in Fortaleza Wednesday, May 9. The one-day meets are part of the five-meet 2012 Brazilian Athletics Tour.
Kampf recently competed in the Grand Blue Mile in Des Moines on April 24 where she finished a close second to Sara Hall in 4:45, followed by the 1500-meters at the Drake Relays on April 28, where she ran 4:13.89 to finish third.
North by Northwest ... While Kampf heads south, teammates Emily Brown and Josh Moen head to the Northwest to compete in the Lilac Bloomsday 12K Run in Spokane, Washington on Sunday.
Brown and Moen competed at Bloomsday last year, with Brown running 41:11 (in 2010 she finished in 42:13), while Moen crossed the finish line in 35:21.
Over the weekend, Brown won the Get in Gear 10k in Minneapolis on April 28 in a personal road best time of 33:28. Moen last competed on April 1 at the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile in Washington, D.C., where he ran 48:38 to finish seventh.
