Two of the shorter races hosted by Minnesota's biggest running events are gearing up.
Registration for the Medtronic TC 1 Mile opened on Friday. The event, scheduled for Thursday night, May 7, is the richest road mile in the United States, offering $22,000 in prize money, plus a $10,000 "bounty," if the winning male breaks 4:00 or the winning female breaks 4:28. The event will serve as the USA Road Mile Championship for men and women as well as an event on the USA Track and Field - Minnesota Team Circuit.
On-line-only registration for the event is HERE.
Sign-up for the William A. Irvin 5K in Duluth opens tomorrow -- actually a minute after midnight "tonight." The race takes place Friday night, June 19th outside the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center and is part of a weekend's worth of races and events tied to the 33rd-annual Grandma's Marathon.
Last year, registration for the Irvin closed in two days, although 300 spots in the race have been added this year for a limit of 1200 entrants.
On-line-only registration for the event is HERE.
