Multi-Eventer Roehrig Back in Uniform

University of Minnesota multi-event star Liz Roehrig is back in her Gopher uniform.

The fifth-year senior from Chilton, Wisconsin competed in the high jump, javelin throw, and 4 x 400 meter relay at the team's spring break meet on Friday held at the University of South Florida.

The six-time Big Ten multi-event champion won the high jump competition with a clearance of 5-8 3/4. She also finished 8th in the javelin throw with a toss of 116-6 and helped the Minnesota "B" squad to 5th in the relay.

Roehrig (pictured) had used up her indoor eligibility prior to the start of the 2009 season, but still has one outdoor season remaining after an ankle injury in 2007 prompted her take a "medical redshirt" for that season.

Roehrig is a two-time all-American in the heptathlon outdoors and was the runner-up in the event at the NCAA Championships last year. Roehrig finished 5th at last summer's Olympic Trials heptathlon.

Roehrig holds five Gopher school records: the indoor pentathlon at 4,218 points, the heptathlon at 5,855) points, the indoor high jump at 5-10 1/2 , the outdoor high jump at 6-0, and the outdoor long jump at 21-1 1/4.
