That's the entry status for three upcoming races hosted by the two largest running event organizers in Minnesota.
The William A. Irvin 5K, held the night before Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, is now full and closed to registration. Twin Cities Marathon's TC 1 Mile, scheduled for May 7, is now more than half-full. Grandma's Marathon, slated for June 20, still has 2000 starting-line spots still available.
William A. Irvin 5K ... reached its capacity of 1500 runners yesterday, race officials announced. Grandma's organizers increased the field size by 300 runners to 1500 for this year's event. Officials noted that entries are still available for their April 18, Fitger's 5K race in Duluth.
TC 1 Mile ... is more than half-full, according to race organizers. The event, which will be capped at 3200 participants in its eight separate races, is the USA Road Mile Championship for men and women and a USATF - Minnesota Team Circuit event.
Grandma's Marathon ... is still 2000 runners shy of its limit of 9500 participants. Last year at this time, less than 300 entries remained for the event, which filled in early April. Grandma's Marathon has reached its capacity in each of the last 14 years.
