Can Kara Goucher run under sixty-six minutes at the Lisbon Half Marathon this Sunday in Portugal?
That's 5:02 miles ... a baker's dozen of them!
Goucher's coach Alberto Salazar thinks so. He told the Portland Oregonian as much, HERE, in a story published this morning. The women's record on the course is 1:05:44 by Kenya's Susan Chepkemei, set in 2001.
Salazar-coached runners have been on a roll recently -- Galen Rupp just won three events at the NCAA Indoor Championships, leading the University of Oregon to a team title, and Amy Yoder Begley won USA titles at 3000 meters indoors and 15K on the roads in the past two weeks.
Goucher is running the Lisbon Half as part of her preparation for April's Boston Marathon.
