The Minnesota State - Mankato's women's track and field team -- the #1-ranked team in NCAA Division II -- headlines the team competition in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, their new home, this weekend. Mankato, along with Augustana College of South Dakota, Minnesota - Duluth, and St. Cloud State, have joined the conference this school year after the demise of the North Central Conference.
Led by the highest flying female pole vaulter in any collegiate division -- two-time defending D2 Indoor champ and all-time D2 record-holder Katelin Rains -- the Maverick women look to join their new conference on a high note. The Mavericks women sport five #1 seeds in the competition which begins today.
