Brown, McGinnis Honored by USATF-Minn.

USA Track & Field - Minnesota recently announced that Emily Brown and R.J. McGinnis were named USATF Minnesota's Athletes of the Month for February.

Brown, a member of Team USA Minnesota, was recognized for winning the USA Cross Country Championships earlier this month in Deerwood, Maryland. The 2006 Big Ten steeplechase champion for the University of Minnesota, won her first-ever national title by finishing more than half a minute ahead of the nearest challenger.

McGinnis, a multi-event athlete on the University of Minnesota track and field team, was honored for winning the Jack Johnson Classic heptathlon with what was at the time an NCAA-leading performance. McGinnis scored 5511 points, winning four of the two-day competition’s seven events.
