MIAC XC Athletes of the Week

Colin Rogers claimed the individual title at the St. Kate's Invite running 12:07.12 for 4K. He held off a charge by Saint John's Tomas Feichtinger to win the race by three seconds. His first-place finish helped Hamline take third as a team at St. Kate's with a score of 56 points. For his performance, Rogers was named the MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Week.
Rogers and his teammates have just one meet left to tune up for the 2013 MIAC Cross Country Championships, which will be held Nov. 2 at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul. Saturday, the Pipers will travel to Wisconsin for their final regular-season race, the UW-La Crosse Invitational. The meet stats at 10:30 a.m.

St. Catherine's junior Ailee Larson (Lusten, Minn.)  was the second overall finisher and top MIAC runner Saturday at the St. Kate's Invite. Her time of 14:23.47 for 4K was the best by a Wildcat at the event since 2009. As a result, Larson was named the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Week for the second week in a row, and third time this season.
Larson finished 16 seconds ahead of the next conference finisher, and behind Luther's Tricia Serres, who finished 20th at the NCAA DIII championships last season. Larson adds her latest MIAC weekly honor to her previous awards on Oct. 8 and Sept. 17.
St. Catherine have just one race left on the schedule before the 2013 MIAC Championships.  Saturday, St. Catherine travels to Northhampton, Mass., for the Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Smith College, at 10:30 a.m.
