Matt Horan won the men's race at the St. Olaf Invitational 8K in 25:01.4, a meet record by 16 seconds. The Cougar men would come away from the meet with a runner-up finish and were the top NSIC school at the meet. The Cougars will compete next at the Briar Cliff Invitational in McCook Lake, SD on Saturday, October 12.

Team NotesMinnesota State Mankato
 Rated tenth in the region, the Minnesota State Mankatomen's cross country team finished sixth at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday. Senior Devin Allbaugh, was third in 25:09. He was followed by senior Jacob Ball (8th, 25:33), junior Matthew Stocker (25th, 26:22), junior Josiah Swanson (49th, 27:14), sophomore Daniel Kroenke (58th, 27:28) and junior Alex Schoneberger (27:57). Next action for the Mavericks is the Roy Griak Invitational.
St. Cloud State
The St. Cloud State University men's cross country team placed 12th at the St. Olaf Invitational. The Huskies were led by Chris Caron (63rd, 27:25.0), followed by Tom Mountain placed (73rd, 27:35.4), Jonathan Hess (92nd, 28:09.9), Ra'shad Harris (176th, 29:35.7), Paul Maile (169th, 29:36.9).   SCSU will continue its season at the  Roy Griak Invitational this weekend.

Breanna Colbenson led the University of Minnesota Duluth to the women's team title at the St. Olaf College Invitational.  It was the second championship for the Bulldogs in two meets thus far in 2013.  UMD placed five runners in the top 16. Colbenson completed the 6K race in 21:48.3 to finish second to St. Olaf's Noelle Olson (21:34.4).

UMD won their second championship in two meets at St. Olaf. Individual race runner-up,Breanna Colbenson was the team's top finisher. Fellow freshman Samantha Rivard was sixth among 251 competitors, in 22:36.9.  Junior Alexandra Rudin (9th place; 22:56.3), sophomore Kaelyn Williams (13th; 23:08.1) and sophomore Hannah Jocelyn (16th; 23:24.5) were UMD's other scorers. They were followed by sophomores Erica Seidenkranz (24th; 23:41.5) and Hannah Olson (26th; 23:47.7).

The Bulldogs scored 46 points, 22 points better than runnerup Carleton College. A total of 15 schools took part in Saturday's event.

Minnesota State Mankato
The Minnesota State Mankato was fifth at the St. Olaf Invitational. Sophomore Emily Knapczyk led the team finishing in 18th in 23:27.  Senior Sarah Bowler (22nd, 23:37), junior Marina Paul (27th, 23:49), junior Samantha Soupir (30th, 23:53), freshman Maddi Sjelin (43rd, 24:14), senior Jessie Dejong (44th, 24:20), and junior Stephanie Steenhoek (51st, 24:36) followed.  Next action for the Mavericks, who are ninth in the region, is the Roy Griak Invitational. 
St. Cloud State
The St. Cloud State were ninth at the St. Olaf College Invitational. Kassie Vaness (11th overall, 22:59.2) was the team's top finisher. Samantha Sunstrom (13th overall, 23:07.8), Rachel Sakry (78th overall, 24:52.9), Jenny Metzler (90th, 25:08.0), Kylie Bass (109th, 25:36.8), Lindsay Stassen (113th, 25:39.8), and Lauren Johnson (141st,  26:10.8) followed.  The Huskies return to action at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational.
