Anderson to Speak at Fools Five Road Race

Former Gopher All-American and 2012 Olympic Trials competitor Gabriele Anderson will be one of the featured speakers at the Fools Five Road Race in Lewiston, MN, on Sunday, April 7. The 8-kilometer race raises money for cancer research.

The Fools Five is Minnesota-certified 8K race, as well as a 1-mile race. Walkers and wheelchairs are welcome in both distances. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to raise pledges. There will be a live/silent auction event the night before the race. This year is the 35th anniversary of the Fools Five.

Anderson, a cancer survivor, will speak after the race. She last competed for the Gophers in 2010. She finished second in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after coming back from a battle with adenoid cystic carcinoma. Anderson then beat thyroid cancer prior to competing in the 2012 Olympic Trials, where she finished fourth in the 1,500m.

To register or learn more about the race, please visit foolsfive.org or find the Fools Five page on Facebook.
