The spotlight will be on high school athletes this week as the State Meet provides the conclusion to the prep season. Taking place at Hamline University tomorrow and Saturday, it will be the last chance to watch many of these athletes compete in their high school uniform.

Since records are made to be broken, we would like to ask how many you think will go down at State this weekend with the following question:

Yes/No: Will there be 2 or more All-Time State Meet Records broken at the Minnesota State High School Meet on Friday and Saturday?

Note: For this contest, we will be using the All-Time Minnesota State Meet records listed in these documents: Boys, Girls. Five state meet records were broken in 2008.

There are lots of athletes who have a shot at breaking state meet records this weekend. Two athletes who have 2009 marks that would better the state record include: Casey Dehn, a shot putter from Owatonna, and Chiamake Okonkwo, a 100 hurdler from Osseo. In addition , Zach Mellon, a half-miler from Buffalo, and Jessica Cagle, a discus thrower from Grand Rapids are both returning after breaking state meet records last year.

Apple RaceberryJam keeps track of all the top high school performances for 2009 with this honor roll as well as 2008 state meet results.

We will continue to offer a bonus for participants making their debut in Yes/No - a correct answer will be worth two points for any first-time players.

My Answer: No

Last week’s question was “Will the combined times of the winning male and female runners at the Minneapolis Marathon be faster than those of the winning male and female at the Stillwater Marathon?” Thanks to masters superstar Tom Tisell, the answer was “Yes”. Tisell ran 2:42:57 and won the race by over 15 minutes.

You can find the Y/N leaderboard HERE.

Good luck and thanks for playing Yes/No on DtB!
