News: AAU JO Results; Spokane/Finnerty; MDRA 15K; Carbohydrate Consumption Myths
The final day of the AAU Junior Olympic meet in Des Moines was a sprint fest. Top performance for Minnesotans was the Minnesota Elite 4 by 100 relay team of Blaine's Jedah Caldwell, Kailynn Blanchard, Lashaura Porter, Meagan Blair, and Michaela Baker(one of whom ran only the prelims) that won the 15-16 age group in 46.88. MSHSL State Class AA girls' champ in the 400, Briesha Hunter finished second in the 15-16 400 in 55.53 and was eighth in the other event she won at the MN HS Championships, the 100. Her time was 12.22. Jedah Caldwell was fourth in the JO 15-16 100 in 12.14.
Keylan Jackson finished third in the age 14 boys' 400 in 51.05 and was eighth in the 200 in 23.72. Rashad Mckinley(10 year old age group--13.88) and Xavier Flemister(12 year olds--13.21) were both eighth in their event. Plymouth's Jacob Boden was also eighth in the 10 year olds' javelin with a throw of 22.96m/75'4". Julia Redwing placed fourth in the 12 year old girls' shot put with a toss of 9.56m/31'4.5".

The MDRA 15K, scheduled for next Sunday, August 10, is still on at Crosby Farm Park. As Ed Whetham's photo HERE shows, the paths are no longer under water or greased with mud.
