State high school champions Sasha Davis, Alex Beckman, and Adam Zutz signed letters of intent yesterday to compete for the University of Minnesota as collegians.
Park Center's Davis (pictured) was the MSHSL Class AA girls' 100, 200, and 400-meter champion last spring, running 12.06, 24.44, and 55.09 en route to her historic triple.
Eastview's Beckman, who will be joined in maroon and gold by her sister Amanda, was the Class AA girls' triple jump champion in 2010. She also placed in the 100-meters. Amanda Beckman placed in the long jump and 200-meters.
The Gopher women also signed Dickinson, North Dakota javelin thrower Jess Herauf.
The Gopher men landed 2010 Class AA cross country champion Adam Zutz of St. Francis who out-kicked Burnsville's Cole O'Brien for the state harrier title last fall in Northfield.
The team also landed Owatonna thrower Jake Fenske, Rosemount sprinter/jumper Goaner Deng, and Minnetonka middle distance runner Christian Skaret.
Pole vaulter Zach Siegmeier of Lakewood, Illinois also intends to transfer to Minnesota from Cuesta College next season.
