Rankings Steady as Section Competition Arrives

The top spots in the state's high school cross country rankings remained the same as prep harriers prepare for this week's Section competition.

While the pollsters think Eden Prairie and Perham are the top boys' and girls' teams in the state in Class AA and Class A respectively, competition will verify or refute the proposition in the next two weeks.

Likewise, for the top-ranked individuals in the state -- Aaron Bartnik of Eden Prairie and Maria Hauger of Shakopee in Class AA and Paul Koullick of Blake and Maddie McClellan of Perham in Class A -- it will be their legs deciding their final position, not a panel of coaches.

The State Meet, of course, takes place on November 7 at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
