More weekend results: Mead, Heath set PRs, Meet of Saints, Mudball. Cardinal Invite

Hassan Mead with his altitude training buds.  Can you name them?
Hassan Mead and Garrett Heath both set PR's in the Payton Jordan/Cardinal Invitational 5K at Stanford Sunday night.  Mead finished second in 13:02.80, six hundreths of a second behind winner Ben True, who ran 13:02.74.  Heath finished eighth in 13:16.65.  The PR was kind of a deji vu for Mead as he made his breakthrough PR in college here on May 2, 2009 when he was a sophomore, winning his heat in 13:28.25. Last year he set another PR at this meet running 13:15.50.

Heath is even more familiar with the Stanford track as he is a Stanford grad and last year set his 5K PR at the Payton Jordan meet by running 13:20. Results for the 5K are HERE.

The MDRA Mudball has been around a lot longer than the Tough Mudder races, and it's had its share of "shocking" results.  One year the runners going through the pit at Wirth Park got a jolt.  They felt an electric shock.  Further investigation revealed that the mud pit was near where an electric line was buried and as that had been a particularly wet year, the power line and the water combined to send shocks through some runners.  Thankfully, there were changes to avoid this in the future.  This year's results are HERE.
