Nick Arciniaga survived a dodgy hamstring to triumph in the men's race , while former Team USA Minnesota runner Annie Bersagel outran the rest of the women to win the US Championships at Sunday's Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. Two time TC Marathon champion 48-year-old Mbarek Hussein and Sherry Piers won the US Masters crowns.
Arciniaga won a tight battle down the stretch that had the top four men's finishers separated by only 24 seconds in 2:13:11. Bersagel won the women's race by nearly three minutes in 2:30:53. Hussein ran 2:20:21 to best his younger competitors, and Piers ran 2:38:35 to not only win the Masters women's title but finish eighth overall.
