The Indoor Visa Championship Series will culminate with this weekend's USA Indoor Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Many Minnesotans will make the trip, including this incomplete list: Laishema Hampton in the Weight Throw, Samantha Sonnenberg in the pole vault, Jim Dilling in the High Jump, Bryan Tolcser in the Weight Throw, Justin Tyner in the 3000m and Garrett Heath in the 1500m.We are going to take a closer look at Melrose native Amanda Smock and the triple jump. Smock is the reigning USA Outdoor Champion, and she competed at the World Championship in Daegu in 2011, a breakthrough year for her.

Amanda Smock is currently ranked third in the triple jump entries for USA Indoors. Crystal Manning is seeded first with a 45-3 3/4, followed by Tiombre Hurd at 44-8 and then Smock and Erica McClain with 44-6 efforts.
In terms of personal records (indoor and outdoor), Hurd is the American record holder at 47-5 and McClain has jumped 47-0 1/4. Amanda Smock's best jump was last summer when she flew 46-6 1/4.
