Two Minnesota Gophers were added to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship field as at-large selections when startlists for next weekend's meet in Fayetteville, Arkansas were announced yesterday.
Going to the big show for the Gophers are senior Chris Rombough, who makes a return trip in the men's 5000 meters, and sophomore Nikki Swenson, who will compete for the first time at the meet in the 800 meters.
Rombough finished 12th in the Midwest Regional 5000m last weekend; Swenson was 7th in the 800m there.
Winona High School alum Elliott Heath of Stanford also made the 5000m field as an at-large entrant. He had finished 6th in the West Regional 5000m.
Also Running ... Minnetonka High School grad Molly Lehman of Duke University will compete in the meet at 1500m. She qualified out of the East Regional. Detroit Lakes native Hanna Grinaker of Wisconsin made the field in the 10,000m.
And, Duke's Jade Ellis, formerly of Totino Grace High School, competes in the long jump.

Don't forget Brittany Gigstead from NDSU who is a sophomore. She finished 5th in the region with a 2:06 in the prelims and 2:07 in the finals. She was the Class A State Champ in 2007 and was a graduate from Perham High School.
