The Bethel's Rob LeMay finished third in 48.78, the top time in the MIAC and 11th-ranked time in DIII. LeMay was named the first MIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week of the 2013 season. He was the top Division III and MIAC finisher.
LeMay and his teammates will be back in action just across the border this weekend at a two-day invite. The Royals will travel to River Falls, WI, to compete at UW-River Falls both Friday and Saturday, with the meet starting Friday at 4 p.m.
Inver Grove Heights, MN / Simley
Gustavus traveled to Iowa to compete the Wartburg Outdoor Select meet in Waverly against some of the best Division III athletes in the Midwest over the weekend. Gustavus senior Ryan Ness won the javelin with a throw of 57.53 meters, putting him at the top of the MIAC. For his performance, Ness was named the MIAC Men's Field Athlete-of-the-Week for the 2013 season.
Ness was only one in the field to break 57 meters. Hes has the top throw in the MIAC in 2013 by more than two full meters, and his distance ranks 33rd in Division III this spring.
This weekend, Ness and his teammates hope to benefit from a home track-and-field advantage, as the Gusties are set to host the Lee Krough Invitational Saturday in St. Peter.
Andover, MN / Meadow Creek Christian
Bethel sprinter Courtney Fregeau won the 400 in 58.72 at the Hamline Invitational in St. Paul on Saturday. For her performance, Fregeau was named the MIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week for the 2013 season.
She was the only runner in the meet to break 59 seconds, winning by .65 seconds. Fregeau's time is ranked first in the MIAC this season. She was seeded third in the event heading into the meet.
West Fargo, ND / West Fargo
At Augustana College's Vance Butler Invite Concordia sophomore, Cherae Reeves, finished second in the shot put, first among Division III competitors, with a throw of 14.08 meters. For her performance, Reeves was named the MIAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week .
Reeves easily exceeded the NCAA provisional qualifying standard of 12.86 m. Her throw is also the fifth-best in Division III mark and the third-best in Concordia school history. Her throw ranks first in the MIAC this season by more than.8 meters.
The Cobbers and Reeves will try to continue their season this weekend at the NDSU's Bison Open Saturday at noon. Concordia will also send athletes to the Bison Heptathlon Friday and Saturday, and to the Saint Ben's Multi-Event on Saturday and Sunday.
