Spandl Shares Big Ten Weekly Honor

Minnesota pole vaulter and multi-eventer Brock Spandl was named the Co-Big Ten Field Event Athlete of the Week after his debut decathlon last weekend.

Spandl placed second at the California Invitational Decathlon scoring 7384 points, the sixth-best score in Gopher history in the event. His score tops the Big Ten this season and ranks #17 in the nation.

Spandl’s highest-scoring performance in the decathlon was, not surprisingly, the pole vault. Spandl cleared a season-best 17-0 3/4 in the event.
