(Editor's Note: On February 26, 2010 the event paid a large portion of the outstanding bills, as reported HERE; by April 21, 2010 the race had paid all of the money owed for traffic control and emergency service from 2009 and had paid in advance for such services for 2010, as reported HERE.)
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported on Wednesday that the Stillwater Marathon is still more than $30,000 in arrears on bills from last year's event.
Mary Divine's story on the matter is HERE.
According to the account, the race still owes money for police and ambulance services for the May 2009 event. Failure to pay the bills and, in some cases, to put funds for 2010 charges into escrow could cause cancellation of this year's race, scheduled for May 30.
