Wayzata – Defending state champs return top nine runners from squad that took 7th at NXN national meet.  Led by 2012 2nd place finisher Anna French.
2.            Forest Lake – Incredibly young squad looks to take last year’s 4th place finish to the podium.  Led by all-state freshman Allison Bartlett.
3.            Edina – Last year’s 8th grade class one of the best in the state.  Should fill in nicely from senior departures.  Led by all-state junior Shannon Spalding.
4.            Eagan – Last year’s 2nd place finisher’s and Nike team qualifiers take a big hit losing Danielle Anderson, but still have enough to be there at the end of the year.
5.            East Ridge – Emily Betz, junior looking to improve on her 13th place finish from 2012, leads an East Ridge squad that has become one of the best girls programs in the state.
6.            Lakeville South – Another perennial state power, Lakeville South returns all seven runners from a somewhat disappointing 6th place finish a year ago.  Junior Kaytlyn Larson, 11th a year ago leads a squad that could do serious damage at the end of the year.
7.            Chanhassen – Chanhassen begins the pre-season in the seventh spot on the strength of their top three runners which include ninth grader Anastasia Korzenowski, who finished 15th in last year’s state meet.
8.            Willmar – Like Forest Lake, this sleeper team return five 8th graders, from last year’s 10th place team.
9.            Monticello – 2011 state champions still have enough in the tank to make a run.  Led by seniors Maria Betzler and Amber Seidenkranz, top 12 individual pre-season picks, Monticello will battle Willmar, Moorhead and dark-horse Alexandria in tough section 8AA.
1            Moorhead – One of the most consistent programs in the state return six from last year’s 7th place squad.
Eden Prairie – Has enough to be a top ten program, but do they have enough to get out of section 6AA?
1           Alexandria – Don’t count out Alexandria with Megan and Bethany Hasz leading the way.  The sophomore twins begin the season ranked 3rd and 5th in the state.
