National Senior Games Saturday Results

By Tom Lagenfeld
The 50 to 64-year-old age groups got started on Saturday. Jim Schoffman, 60-year-old from Fridley, has taken on a Sagedahl-like slate of running events:  the M60 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m.   That gave him preliminary heats in three of those events Saturday—the 100m, 200m and 800m.  He won his heat in both the 100m and 200m, and was third in the 800m to qualify for the finals.
Susan Loyd, 55, Edina,  matches Jim’s entry load on the track – 50m, 100m, 200m , 400m, and 800m  – and she is entered in the shot put.   She nailed down the last qualifying spot in both the W55 100m and 200m Saturday. The results in the women's M55 800 hadn't been posted yet.
Dale Berry, 53, Bloomington, led qualifiers in the M50 200m and had the second best time in qualifying for the 100m finals. St. Paul's John Lampe, 53,  finished 13th in the M50 800m in 2:30.70, but did not qualify for the finals.
Two other Minnesotans did not qualify in the sprint trials.  Samuel Prabhakar, 59, Rochester, was 15th out of 32 competitors in the M55 100m trials and 13th out of 29 in the 200m trials.  Elizabeth Foster, 61, Minneapolis, was 13th out of 20 in the W60 100m trials. Foster qualified for the 800m final by finishing fourth in her heat.

All of Saturday’s running events were preliminaries.  The 100m and 800m finals will be Sunday along with the 400 prelims.  200m finals are on Monday. The full list of results by day and event are HERE
