Twelve members of the Minnesota women’s track and field team have earned All-Academic status from the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. The Gopher women ranked fourth among all NCAA Division I programs with 12 honorees. Only Duke (14), Stanford (13) and Arkansas (13) had more. The Big Ten led all conferences with 76 female All-Academic selections.
Representing the Gophers on this year’s USTFCCCA All-Academic list are Liz Berkholtz, Emily Betz, Maggie Bollig, Kelli Budd, Christina DeLakis, Laura Docherty, Katie Hill, Molly Kayfes, Katie Loberg, Katie Moraczewski, Devin Stanford and Todea-Kay Willis.
Eleven members of the Minnesota men’s track and field team also earned All-Academic status from the USTFCCCA . The Gopher men tied for third among all NCAA Division I programs with 11 honorees, sharing the ranking with Indiana. Only BYU (16) and Nebraska (12) had more. The Big Ten led all conferences with 70 male All-Academic selections.
Representing the Gophers on this year’s USTFCCCA All-Academic list are Cameron Boy,Wally Ellenson, Oladipo Fagbemi, Micah Hegerle, John Holton, Dominique Howard, Mark Jennings, Jon Lehman, Quentin Mege, Bob Nicolls and Danny Schiller.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
