Yes/No: Will a Minnesotan win the USA 1 Mile Championship?

The Yes/No question for this week was snowed out.  The St. Olaf Manitou Classic was cancelled due to (yet another) snowstorm last week.  Fortunately, there are always more great events featuring Minnesota athletes.

We will shift the focus to the USA 1 Mile Championship, hosted by the Grand Blue Mile in Des Moines.  With the race being this close to Minnesota, a good group of athletes will head south to compete alongside a couple of ex-Minnesotans.

Take a look at the entries and let us know what you think...

Yes/No: Will a Minnesota athlete win the USA 1 Mile Championship in Des Moines on Tuesday?

A yes vote means that either a Minnesota man will win the men's race and/or a Minnesota woman will win the women's race.  Minnesotans include Gabriele Anderson, Heather Kampf, Meghan Peyton, Garrett Heath and Will Lear.

Team USA Minnesota is sending three women to the race and their press release can be found HERE.  According to personal bests in the mile—Gabriele Anderson has the third fastest time in the field.  Heather Kampf is the defending USA 1 Mile Champion, and Meghan Peyton has run 4:40 for a mile.

On the men's side, Garrett Heath and Will Leer both have 3:55 bests in the mile, which places them fourth (Heath) and sixth (Leer) on the pre-race rankings based on mile personal records.  Leer in particular has been on a roll in 2013.  He was a double USA Champion indoors and just ran a personal best 13:21 for 5K last weekend at Mt. SAC.

To play our game, simply type "yes" or "no" into the subject line of an e-mail and send it to us at DtBFantasy [AT] gmail [DOT] com before 7:15 P.M. CDT, Tuesday, April 23rd.  Please put your answers in the subject line of the e-mail and make sure your full name appears somewhere in the e-mail.  We will offer a bonus for participants making their 2013 debut in Yes/No - a correct answer will be worth two points for anyone who has not played yet this year.

My Answer:  Yes

Last week's question was: Will Gabriele Anderson and/or Heather Kampf finish in the top three at the BAA Invitational Mile on Sunday?  The answer was yes—Anderson was second and Kampf third in the mile race.  Thirty-one contestants answered correctly, including all of the leaders.  Lori Anne Schwiesow continues to lead with eight points.
