Hamline Invitational Men's Results

The Hamline men had one win, three seconds, and a third at the annual Hamline Invitational Track Meet at Klas Field Saturday. Phil Rein won the long jump with a leap of 6.59m. Tom Larson (100 Meters/11.4), Amani Lee(Long Jump/43.05m), Eric Hanson (100 Hurdles/15.04) took seconds,  and Justin Deling ( Hammer/142' 1") finished third. It was an unscored meet but head men's coach Paul Schmaedeke was satisfied with his team's effort in the cold, windy surroundings. The University of Minnesota men won nine individual titles and placed multiple competitors in the 800 , the 1,500, the high jump, the pole vault, and the discus.  The Gophers finished with the top four performances in the pole vault. Zach Siegmeier was first clearing 5.20 meters. Jack Szmanda second at 5.05m  followed by Logan Markuson at 4.90m,  and Adam Isakson at 4.75m. Szmanda also finished second in the long jump, leaping  6.53m.

The Gophers also had the top four in the discus throw.  Justin Barber taking first at 53.69 meters. Mark Jennings was second at 50.17m, followed by Emmanuel Onyia in third at 49.95m, and Dominique Howard in fourth at 49.51m. Wally Ellenson, competing unattached, set a personal record winning the high jump at 2.17m. Nick Bachinski(2.03m) finished second, while Danny Schiller(2.03m) was third.

Christian Skaret(1:53.08) won the 800 as the Gophers earned three of the top four finishes. Michael Bolland finished third at 1:53.57, and Blayne Dulian came in fourth at 1:55.44. Minnesota Running Club's Brian Gooley was second in 1:53.31. Minnesota had two of the top three times in the 1,500-meter run including Derek Storkel’s winning time of 3:54.93. Aaron Bartnik finished third in 3:56.87.  St. Olaf's Grant Wintheiser was second in 3:56.47. The Gophers also won the following individual titles: John Holton 200/ 22.68. Kevin Bradley 400/ 48.30, edging Holton who was second in the same time,  Ryan Todhunter first in the 110 hurdles/14.94, and  Goaner Deng won the 400 hurdles in 54.48.

St. Olaf's Charlie Baird won a blanket finish in the 5K in 14:39.10 as the top nine places were separated by a little over a second. UMD took the top three places in the steeplechase with Dan Nielsen(9:44.69), Tyler Stephens(9:59:24) and   Rob Kostick(10:01.87). Bethel swept the 4 by 100 and 4 by 400 relays in 42.85 and 3:25.20, respectively. St. John's Zach Roy won the triple jump with a hop/skip/jump of  13.36m.  UMD's Gage Berkel won the shot put with a toss of 9.78m, and his teammate, Nick Moran,  won the hammer throw(49.59). Nate Sayler of Bethel won the 100 in 10.97. Full results are HERE.
