The University of Minnesota have another Big Ten Athlete of the Week.   Harun Abda has been named the Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week after posting the nation’s fastest time in the 800 last weekend at the Stanford Invitational.

The Gopher All-American made his outdoor 800 debut this season with a winning time of 1:48.62. The senior was also part of Minnesota’s 4 by 400 squad (along with Jacob Capek, Goaner Deng and Cameron Boy) that finished second in 3:09.12, the top time in the Big Ten this season and the 20th best 4 by 400 in the nation.

This is Abda’s first career outdoor Big Ten honor while it is the third selection this year for Minnesota. The Gopher men swept the Big Ten awards last week with Alex Brend (track) and Quentin Mege (field).

The team returns to action on Friday at the Hamline Invitational.
