Minnesota Commercial Real Estate Women’s (MNCREW) signature event – Women Run
the Cities – will mark its seventh year on Sunday, September 22,
2013. The event includes a women’s 10 mile run, a women’s 5K walk/run, and a
girls’ 1-mile run.
Registration is now open with 3,000 participants expected on race day.
Fees are $50 for the 10 mile, $30 for the 5K, and $15 for the 1 mile, which is
for girls 12 and under. Fees will increase for all distances on July 1. The
event has sold out for the past several years so runners are encouraged to sign
up early. Online registration is available at www.womenrunthecities.com.
Participants start and finish their races at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis,
with the 10-mile run beginning at 8:00 a.m., the girls’ 1-mile run at 8:10 a.m.,
and the women’s 5k walk/run at 8:30 a.m. The course takes runners through the
parks along the Mississippi River and the 1-mile course winds through both
Minneapolis and St. Paul.
The majority of the proceeds from Women Run the Cities benefit the Ann
Bancroft Foundation’s “Dare to Dream” mini-grants as well as the CREW Network
Foundation, which assists with the advancement of women in commercial real
estate.
The Women Run the Cities event was recognized by ESPN in 2012 as one of the top five women’s
races in the country.
