Weekend Meet Results


Bryan Thell won the weight throw (56 '10.75") and took third in the shot put (48' 4.75") to lead the St Thomas men’s track and field team at Friday’s four-team home competition at Anderson Fieldhouse. No team scores were kept as UST, MSU-Mankato, Augsburg, UW-Eau Claire and some unattached athletes competed.


UST  won the 4x400 relay (3:28.33), Fritz Alt won the 600 (1:25.27), and Doug Thoreson was second in the 400 (49.77). Aba Omot took second in the weight throw (53' 1"), fourth in the shot put (46'11.75") and fourth in the 60 meters (7.23). Cole Boughner took second in the 200 (23.18) and was fifth in the 60 (7.18 prelims). Keaton Wendroth (4:19) and Alex Schroeder (4:23) placed 2-5 in the mile. Dylan Baumann (9:34.77) and Nicholas Jackson (9:36.85) placed 2-3 in the 3,000. Joe Wistrcill placed fourth in the 60 hurdles (8.84). Ben Bridell (1:29.96) and Steven Dorumsgaard (1:30.95) placed 4-5 in the 600. Saint John's won nine events in its 2013 home opener on February. 9. Senior Kevin Horton (Eagan, Minn.) won the 60m (7.18) and the 200m with a time of 22.67, the second-fastest time in the MIAC so far this season. Senior Ruairi Moynihan (Fargo, N.D./South) took first in the mile in 4:23.61, the fifth-fastest time in the conference this season.

Sophomore Jake Lammi (Marine on St. Croix, Minn./Stillwater Area) also recorded the MIAC's fifth-fastest time in the 400m, 51.55. Classmate Chris Mergens (Farmington, Minn./Rosemount) won the 800  (2:03.11) and was part of the Johnnies' first-place, 4x400-meter relay team (3:37.41; with James McLeanKyle RossowWillie Versen).

Senior Tyler Martin (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) improved last weekend's mark by 0.10 meters in the long jump (6.32m) and classmate Brady O'Brien (Minneapolis, Minn./Holy Angels) won the triple jump with a distance of 12.70m. Junior Patrick Hayden (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) finished first in the pole vault with a height of 3.97m.

For Macalester Logan Hovie (Fr., Neenah, Wis.) wonn the high jump (1.85 meters) and the Scots picked up second-place finishes from Konnor Fleming (So., Charlotte, Vt. / Champlain Valley Union) in the 200m (22.91), Auburn Jimenez (Jr., East Los Angeles, Calif. / St. John Bosco) in the 3K (9:09.22) andSebastian Roemer (So., Kimberton, Pa. / Kimberton Waldorf) in the 400m (51.81). Fleming added a third-place finish in the 60m(7.35).

The Macalester women at the St. John's / St. Benedict Alumni Meet, competed against teams from St. Ben's, St. Catherine, and Hamline.Shasta Webb (Sr., Los Gatos, Calif) won the 60-meter dash competition (8.21) and placed second in the 200 dash (27.30) to help lead the way.  Macalester had the top two finishes in the 600-meter dash, with Irene Gibson (So., Carmel, Ind.) winning the event (1:43.34) and Marta LeFevre-Levy (Jr., Wayland, Mass.) finishing runner-up (1:44.65). Emily Diener (So., Duluth, Minn. / Marshall) won the 400m(1:04.50).

Stephanie Goei (So., Shoreline, Wash. / Shorewood) established a Mac school record when she placed second in the weight throw (14.02m / 46') and also took fourth in the shot put (10.28m / 33' 8.75"). Macalester's 4x400-meter relay team ran won in 4:16.17. Kate Rochat (Sr., Portland, Ore. / Cleveland) took third in the 60m (8.52) and Ellen Brady (So., St. Paul, Minn. / Minneapolis De La Salle) placed third in the 800m (2:38.27).  In the 60m hurdles, Judy Syrkin-Nikolau (So., Ames, Ia.) was third (10.22) and Simone Carpenter (So., Dedham, Mass) was fourth (10.31).
