Three milers with Minnesota ties ran well at the New Balance Grand Prix meet in Boston on Saturday. First, Lance Elliott of Edina finished third in the men's Masters Mile in 4:26.29. Then, in a race where the top five finished within .75 seconds of each other, Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf was fifth in 4:39.99. Finally, Minnetonka HS grad Will Leer finished second in the men's mile in 3:56.35, .09 seconds behind winner Matt Centrowitz.
Elliott Heath's older brother, Garrett Heath, duplicated Elliott's fourth place finish in the USATF XC Championships in the 3K at Boston, running 7:53.69.
