Gopher ISC Results

Gopher men's redshirt freshman Goaner Deng set a new personal record while winning the 400m in 47.89  at the Iowa State Classic on Friday. Deng's time was the fastest in the event by a Gopher this season and the eighth fastest time in school history.

Sean King finished ran the top prelim time in the 60 m,  6.70 . The senior's performance just missed his personal record of 6.68 seconds (set at this year's Bill Bergan Invitational) and ranks as the school's third best time ever. The Gophers  Michael Bolland finished fourth in the 800m unseeded final  in 1:53.12, a new PR. Friday men's results are HERE.

For the women, the competition started on Thursday with the Pentathlon, and Friday's non-sseded events. All six Minnesota runners in the non-seeded 3,000-meter race achieved PRs. Liz Berkholtz won in 9:45.82, leading most of the way. Missa Varpness (9:48.14) and Kelli Budd (9:53.45) came in third and fourth, while Kaila Urick (9:54.51) finished seventh. Kate Bucknam and Hannah Trasser also recorded PRs.

Kylie Peterson and Todea-Kay Willis posted the top two preliminary times in the 60m, each running 7.55.
In the weight throw, Jeri Johnson-Chambers tied her PR and Minnesota’s sixth-best all-time mark with a toss of 57-7 3/4 (17.57m) to finish third. Alex Beckman and Amanda Beckman finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pentathlon.

“Some of our young people did really good things today,” director of track and field/cross country Matt Bingle said. “The 3K was good, and it was good to see Liz Berkholtz have a breakthrough as a freshman. Kylie and TK looked good in the 60, and I’m looking forward to seeing them run tomorrow.” Results by event are HERE
