Mattie Suver finished third in the women's 6K race in 21:00. Team USA Minnesota's Ladia Albertson-Junkans finished seventh in 21:08; Meghan Peyton was eighteenth in 21:38; Jamie Cheever finished 20th in 21:41; Stephanie Price placed 21st in 21:43; McKenzie Melander was 29th in 22:58.
Report on the races from Dennis Barker, Augsburg/Team USA Minnesota coach, and coach of the US teams that competed in Scotland: "Senior Women: The Europeans had a strong team and were in control of the race. The US and GB/NI were neck and neck through three runners but they put their 4, 5, and 6 just in front of ours and that was the difference. Ladia ran very well. She started a little too far back maybe, but finished strong. She outkicked Julia Bleasdale, a 15:02 5K and sub 31 10K runner who finished 10th in the Olympics last summer.
"Senior Men: Team depth won it for our senior men. The Europeans and GB/NI had some tough guys up front but our 2-6 guys made up a good pack and broke up those teams a bit. Jon Peterson ran in that pack. He wanted to do a little better, but I thought it was a solid race for him."
