Yes/No: Course Records to be broken at TC 10 Mile?

Saturday's Family Events will kick off the Metronic Twin Cities Marathon in grand fashion with a variety show of races that include the 10k, 5k, Mile, Half-Mile, Toddler Trot and other kids/family events.

Don't tell the kids that the main events are actually the following day, with the TC 10 Mile and Twin Cities Marathon runners and spectators filling up the autumn-tinted streets of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

While the Twin Cities Marathon always features an elite field, the TC 10 Mile is the competition that will again turn heads this year as host to the USA 10 Mile Championships.

Yes/No: Will the TC 10 Mile course records both be broken (Men 46:35 and Women 53:16)?

The elite field is deep and talented.  Some notable names include Mo Trafeh, Ben True, Abdi Abdirahman and Chris Solinsky.  The women are led by Janet Bawcom and Kara Goucher.

Both course record holders will run in the 2012 addition of the TC 10 Mile.  Abdi Abdiraham ran 46:35 in 2009.  Kara Goucher holds the women's mark with her 53:16 in 2008.

My Answer:  Yes

Last week's Pick Ten - Griak Invite - was won by Rich Cowles with 45 points.  Mike Henderson and Jesse Schoen were next with 38 and 37 points.  Overall, the top three on the year are Cowles, Henderson and Mitch VanBruggen.

In Yes/No, Mike Mason remains in first with twenty-five points.  Ryan Aylesworth and Heather Jelen are next with twenty-four followed by Gloria Jansen at twenty-three.

  1. The answer is no. Mo Trafeh won the men's race in 46:56 while Janet Bawcom won the women's in 53:43. Neither time broke a course record.
